Two Boonville residents who live on High Street urged City Council on Monday night to ensure that a proposed Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel warehouse would have a minimal effect on nearby residents.
“I ask that landscaping be added to the south side of the warehouse,” said Steve Tillman, who lives in the 300 block of High Street. Among other requests, he asked that deliveries at the proposed warehouse be limited to daylight hours.
Casino officials have said they are looking into the possibility of constructing an on-site warehouse that could store documents.
The council gave its approval to the preliminary site plan for the facility. The planning commission likely would perform a critical review of the proposal in January or February, City Counselor Megan McGuire said.
Also on Monday, the council:
- Approved a bill that OKs a schedule of fees for employee labor and equipment usage for the city.
- Approved a resolution to continue a relationship between Septagon Construction Management and the city in an effort to continue planning for a swimming facility and a new fire station.
- Approved a resolution adopting the services of The Wilson Group Inc. for ventilation and heating upgrades to a city water plant.
- Heard a first reading on a bill to ask voters whether to continue the city’s sales tax for capital improvements. Tessendorf stressed that the bill would not result in a tax increase.
