The LSE Lady Hawks basketball team continues to live the good life. Aside from the loss to the Moberly Spartans, the Lady Hawks have been perfect otherwise this season.

So while hosting the Mexico Lady Bulldogs in NCMC action last night at the LSE gymnasium, the Lady Hawks took it upon themselves to lead Mexico from start to finish for a 25-6 victory.

As for the LSE boys, they struggled both offensively and defensively while giving up double digit points in three out of four quarters while suffering a 51-32 setback.

Of course all was good for the Lady Hawks, who improved to 3-1 on the season, as they led 12-1 after one, 15-5 at the half and 21-5 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, LSE outscored Mexico 4-1 for the victory.

LSE coach Emily Allsop said the girls looked a lot better than they have in previous games. “Our defense was very solid most of the time and carried us through the game,” Allsop said. “We struggled a lot with our shots, both in the paint and from the outside, but our offensive rebounding was the best it has been all year.”

Millie Moyer had seven points and 10 rebounds in the game for LSE while Paige Peterson added seven points and five rebounds.

Sydnee Poindexter finished the game with six points and nine rebounds while Kelsi Dillender added four points and four rebounds and Anna Nelson with one point and 10 rebounds.

Mexico was led by Paityn House, Katelyn Smith and Carly Abbott each with two points.

While the loss dropped LSE to 0-4 on the season, head coach Terry Luster said the only bright spot in this game was the Hawks were 6 of 9 from the free-throw line. “We need to play harder, rebound, pass and shoot better,” Luster said.
