Annissa and Ricky Taylor lived for more than a year with three children in a house so saddled with mold that one of the walls started caving in.
One room had nothing but a dirt floor. The mold lined the basement walls, water filled its floor and many of the windows, for reasons unknown, had been sealed shut. It irritated their oldest daughter’s asthma.
A friend encouraged them to apply to Habitat for Humanity. A few days before the birth of their fourth child in May 2008, they found out that the organization had selected them.
The dedication ceremony for the Taylors' new home is scheduled for Saturday.
