“We’re looking for singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, anyone who knows how to entertain,” says Lyceum Theatre Artistic Director Quin Gresham. “We held this event last year as a new fundraiser for the Lyceum and were so pleased with both the talented people who auditioned and the audience the night of the event. We knew we were on to something special.”
Open auditions will be held at two different locations this year. Oct. 7 at the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at the SoCo Club, 128 E. Nifong, Columbia on Oct. 8 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The SoCo club will host the final event on November 5th. There will be an audition fee of $5.00 per act and auditions should not exceed 3 minutes in length. CD equipment and keyboard will be available for use. After the screening auditions, the final competitors will be announced. There will be cash prizes of $500 for first place with two possible ways to win: most talented and most money raised. Votes for the contestants are $1 per vote. This is an important fundraiser that supports the operating costs of producing an eight show season at the Lyceum. Last year, we raised over $25,000 from this event and it is a not a high cost fundraising event to attend. There are ways everyone can participate says Managing Director Steve Bertani,
The competition is complete with a panel of celebrity judges: Monica Senecal, KPLA morning radio personality; Fred Parry, Publisher Inside Columbia Magazine; and Robert Wells, KBIA
Mid-Missouri’s Got Talent will take place on Nov. 5 at 6:30pm at the SoCo Club. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Lyceum Theatre at 660-837-3311.
