Cooper Lodge raises $3,500 with Ham and Beans dinner
Cooper Lodge #36 served 400 guests at their Ham and Beans Fundraiser on Saturday. The lunch began at 11 a.m. and lasted until 2 p.m. at the lodge located on Main Street.
Seventy pounds of ham and 80 pounds of navy beans were used to serve the guests. Cornbread, peanut butter sandwiches and desserts were also served along with the main course.
Around 12 p.m., the lodge began to see a wave of guests come through the door. Once tickets were purchased, individuals lined up to fill their plate.
The meal was sponsored by Snoddy's Store, C&R Market and members of the Lodge.
The meal raised $3,500 for a relief and building fund. The relief fund assist individuals in need within the community.
Cooper Lodge member Roy Cary said he was very pleased with the turnout since this was the first time they had held an event such as this.
