Students reap the benefits of Booster Club Trivia Night
The winter months around Boonville seem to be a time for trivia and for the Boonville Pirate Booster Club, their Fourth Annual Trivia Night was held Saturday evening at the Isle of Capri Casino-Hotel.
With $3,280.41 raised and a 17 team turnout, Boonville Pirate Booster Club member Beverly Linhart said the night was a huge success. Paul Davis was the Master of Ceremonies once again. Linhart was very thankful for Davis stepping up and being the voice of the event.
At the beginning, a quick slide show was shown to show individuals what the booster club does and was all about. Linhart said the slide show included slides depicting the evolution of Gene Reagan Field. She added the booster club helps all sports at the high school and the money raised would go directly to various programs at the school.
This year included a live auction with many donated items from area individuals and businesses. Some items, according to Linhart, went for a high dollar amount. She was quite thankful for the individuals who donated the items.
The winner for the evening was the Pirate's Cove team who won $100, or their entire entry fee. The team then donated the money back to the booster club.
Linhart said Boonville High School Athletic Director Chris Shickle was very instrumental in encouraging Boonville coaches to form teams and participate in the event.
Linhart wanted to thank the Isle of Capri, all participants and donators for making the event a success.
