World famous pie auction to set the stage for music
BOONVILLE — It's that time of year again! The 19th Annual World Famous Boonville Silver Pirate Band Concert and Pie Auction will be held on Friday, January 17 at 6:45 p.m. in the Laura Speed Elliott Middle School Auditorium. The concert will feature the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth grade bands, the Boonville High School Silver Pirate Band and the Derendinger Auction Service.
Last year, the money raised from this event was used to purchase new instruments, feed the band on school trips, as well as provide scholarships for students to attend music camps. The event has been a "delicious" success in years past, raising thousands of dollars for equipment, new band uniforms, scholarships, and travel meals for students in the Boonville Band program. With the music of the bands and the stellar talent of the auctioneers, the goal of the Boonville Silver Pirate Band Pie Auction and Concert is to put the "fun" back in "fundraising."
To chase away the January cold the audience is cordially invited to a chili supper held with the band concert and pie auction. The mouthwatering chili will be served from 5-7:30 p.m.
The bands will be performing a wide range of musical styles, including marches, overtures, popular and swing music, with extra added entertainment by the world famous and extraordinary pie auctioneers from Cooper County. Professional and dedicated auctioneers Col. Tim Derendinger, Col. Randy Reynolds and Col. David Stock specialize in turning a pie auction and chili supper into a fantastic evening of music and fun. This is a great time to get out, enjoy some great band music, and see what's cooking in Boonville at this entertaining event. Come continue the tradition of great food, music and fun with the chili supper at 5 p.m. in the LSE cafeteria and the band concert and pie auction at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, January 17 at LSE Auditorium.
