Boonville couple welcomes daughter 5 minutes after 2014 began

A Boonville couple rang the New Year with a baby girl, the first to be born in Columbia this year.
Matthew and Amber Scott welcomed Emma Grace Scott to the world at the University of Missouri's Women's and Children's Hospital at 12:05 a.m., Wednesday. This is Amber and Matthew's first child together, but the fifth child they have in the home.
"She has made this the best New Year's we have ever had. I am a very proud daddy," Matthew said.
The Scotts received some gifts from the hospital, which included a car-shaped buggy, a stuffed University of Missouri Truman the Tiger, diapers and a $50 gift certificate.
"Everyone was excited at the hospital. We were keeping an eye on the pregnancy, while making sure she would be healthy," Matthew said.
Both Matthew and Amber said they were really proud.
"This is just my daughter, and it's just, I've never had a baby that's been such a big deal to everyone else than me; it's pretty amazing," Amber told the Columbia Daily Tribune.
Emma was seven pounds, nine ounces and 20 inches long.
