  • The Cooper County Historical Society held their annual Christmas party at the Walter Williams Home in Boonville on Sunday.
More than 20 members came to celebrate the season with ham, homemade bread and desserts. While guests mingled, they were also taken on a tour of the home.
"It went pretty well. It was enjoyable visiting with each other," Cooper County Historical Society President Phillip Bechtold said.
The CCHS spends a lot of time in historical buildings and historical churches for their meetings and parties.
"We like to highlight the history of Cooper County by meeting in historical places around the county," Bechtold said.
In previous years the Christmas party, for example, has been held at historic homes around Pilot Grove and Boonville.
The CCHS also offers individuals the opportunity to research their past at their research center in Pilot Grove, which is located at the corner of Roe Street and Highway 135. The center is open during the summer months on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 1-5 p.m. During the off season, it is recommended contacting CCHS member Betty Stegner at 660-834-4342 or Annick Streck at 660-834-5261.
