  • Boonville Ward Two resident Susan Meadows has become the newest Boonville City Council member after being unanimously approved at Monday evenings council meeting. Meadows was sworn in Tuesday afternoon by Boonville City Clerk Mary McAllister at Boonville City Hall. Meadows will replace former councilman Henry Hurt who resigned after moving out of his ward.
Paula Shannon, Executive Director of the Katy Bridge Coalition presented the Boonville City Council with a financial update and introduced the new coalition board members to the council.
Since the beginning of 2013 the coalition has collected over $50,000 in individual donations and tax credits. Shannon said the coalition has $184,000 on hand in addition to over $5,000 made with the Katy Bridge Wine Walk.
Discussion commenced on the gaming funding distribution for this year. Boonville Ward Four Councilman Morris Carter brought up the idea of going by the original idea of the ‘below’ and ‘above the line’ funding.  Carter said he is for accepting funding for the 'above the line' organizations and doing away with organization presentations.
“I think we need to remember that many of the organizations that fall below the line have very good programs. I don't think there is anyone there who could not qualify for CIP funding,” Boonville Mayor Julie Thacher said.
The council approved to give J.C. Industries, Inc., $35,691.30 for the concrete street repairs and storm-water improvements made during the year.
The council also approved to give Frech Paving Co., $114,609.43 for the asphalt street repairs and overlays completed this year.
