Jefferson City — Lieutenant David E. Earney is being promoted to the rank of captain and designated director of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City.
Earney joined the Patrol on September 1, 1985, as a member of the 57th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop A, Zone Three in Platte County. He was promoted to corporal on June 1, 1993, and sergeant on November 1, 1995. As a sergeant, he was assigned zone supervisor of Troop F, Zone seven located in Cooper and Howard Counties. Earney transferred to Troop F, Zone one located in Cole and Southern Callaway Counties in 2001. He was promoted to lieutenant on November 13, 2005, and assigned to Troop F Headquarters in Jefferson City.
Captain Earney graduated from Boonville R-1 High School in 1982. He studied criminal justice administration and management at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO (now University of Central Missouri). Capt. Earney and his wife, Jodie, have two children, Christopher and Dawson.
