Hannibal wins in three games 25-19, 19-25 and 25-20
The Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team fell in three games last night on the road against the Hannibal Lady Pirates by the scores of 19-25, 25-19 and 20-25.
While the loss dropped Boonville to 20-10-1 overall and 6-4 in the NCMC, head coach Susie Stone said the girls played Hannibal inspired.
“We had a goal of going into Hannibal and playing strong, which is something we have failed to do for the past few seasons on the road at Hannibal,” Stone said. “We fought hard, blocked effectively, and never gave up.”
Kylie Hohensee led the Lady Pirates with 20 digs along with eight service points with one ace.
Makenzie Ficken finished the game with 12 assists, eight service points and six digs while Emma Goff added 11 assists, seven digs and four service points, Anna Davis with 12 digs, four service points, four blocks and two kills on 19 of 24 hitting, Taylor Fry with seven service points with two aces, eight blocks, four kills on 11 of 15 hitting and three digs, Kristin Hoff with 11 digs, eight kills on 22 of 24 hitting and two service points with one ace, Jessica Luscombe with 12 blocks, two digs and two kills on 6 of 6 hitting, Raven Stone with six blocks, five kills on 13 of 14 hitting, two digs and one assist, Anna Terlep with six kills on 10 of 11 hitting and one block and Daryl Fagan with five digs.
In the JV game, Boonville lost in two straight sets 25-18 and 25-19.
Boonville JV coach Jesse Oswald said this was a tough test for the girls and even though they lost, they did some things to help us try to end the season on a positive note and get the team ready for a big tournament Saturday at Hickman.
Sophie Taube had 12 digs and two service points for the Lady Pirates.
Lindsey Harris finished the game with four assists and three digs while Sydnee Poindexter added four service points and three kills, Emilyn O’Laughlin with three blocks and two kills, Alyssa Dell with five service points, Kelsi Dellinder with four kills, Holly Brady with four service points, Ashley King with three service points and Kyra Price with two assists.
