  • Lady Tigers remain perfect with 43-12 win over Jamestown in CCAA

  • The Pilot Grove girls junior high basketball team remained perfect on the season after beating Jamestown 43-12 in CCAA action Monday night at Pilot Grove.
    The Lady Tigers led Jamestown 27-4 at the half and then outscored the Eagles 16-8 in the second half.
    Pilot Grove coach Landon Daniel said a fast start led to a good night.
    Emily Schupp led all scorers in the game for Pilot Grove with nine points while Reagan Walker and Melanie Wolfe each chipped in eight, Kaitlen Weekly six, Madison Kempf four and Kylee Sprick, Chloe Schlotzhauer, Maci Twenter and Cathlynn Hardt each with two.
    Jamestown was led by McKenzie Hargis with four.
    Jamestown (B) 58
    Pilot Grove 9
    The Jamestown boys basketball team outscored Pilot Grove 26-0 in the first quarter and never looked back, beating the Tigers by a score of 58-9 in CCAA action Monday night at Pilot Grove.
    The Tigers, dropping to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA, trailed Jamestown 35-3 at the half and 51-5 after three.
    Pilot Grove coach Derek Skaggs said the boys played a tough conference team that plays a very effective and long 1-3-1.
    Garrett Wolfe had 16 points while Austin Flippin chipped in 12 for Jamestown.
    For Pilot Grove, Anderson had five points while Leban Twenter chipped in two.
    Otterville (G) 31
    Bunceton 21
    The Otterville girls junior high basketball team jumped out to a 20-10 halftime lead against Bunceton Monday night in CCAA action at Otterville.
    Lauren Wieland had the game-high for Bunceton, who dropped to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference, with 12 points. Taylor Barnett chipped in five points while Emily Clevenger and Jenna Kahle added two points each.

    Bunceton 24
    The Bunceton boys junior high basketball team fell short Monday night in a 25-24 loss on the road against the Otterville Eagles.
    Otterville led 14-11 at the half and 23-17 after three quarters of play before the rally in the final period by Bunceton.
    Taylor Zumsteg tossed in 10 points to lead all scorers for Otterville.
    For Bunceton, who dropped to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the CCAA, Rylee Knapheide had 14 points, four rebounds and three steals while Blake Petsel added six points, six steals, one rebound and one assist and Brayden Doyle with four points, 12 rebounds, two steals and two assists.
    New Franklin 7th-8th (B) 41
    Prairie Home 18
    The New Franklin boys junior high basketball team outscored Prairie Home in each of the four quarters of play for a 41-18 win Monday night at Prairie Home.
    The Bulldogs, 2-1 on the season, led Prairie Home 17-11 at the half and 31-11 after three quarters of play.
    Page 2 of 2 - Bailey Lyons had 16 points to lead all scorers for New Franklin. Mason Bailey chipped in 10 while Aiden Jones added 10, Kolby Anson four and Lucas Storjohann with two.
    For Prairie Home, Ty Stinson had 10 of the team’s 18 points.
