A shooter’s education program begins Thursdays in November.

Signup is 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct.24 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center; or the first night, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

The class is 6:30-9 p.m. Thursdays from Nov. 7 to Feb. 27, 2013. There will be no class during school holidays.

The free class is a firearm safety awareness program for children ages 8-16. Participants are required to bring safety glasses.

Topics include fundamentals for firing a gun, ammunition knowledge and safe gun handling. This is not a hunter certification course.

Participants can earn awards for improvement in target practice.

More information is available from Mark and Tammie McKinney, program coordinators, 573-221-8204 or from Aron Lee, HPR recreation supervisor, 573-221-0154; or alee@hannibal-mo.gov.
