Columbia man arrested in connection with Crab Orchard Road homicide
Bryant L. Holmes Jr., 23, of Columbia has been arrested in connection with the murder of 32 year old Columbia resident, Satina T. Beckner who was found Wednesday morning along Crab Orchard Road south of Boonville.
The announcement of Holmes' arrest came early Friday morning.
According to the Cooper County Sheriff's Department, officers have gathered significant physical evidence during the investigation and after an autopsy, performed Thursday morning, the manner of death was confirmed to be blunt force trauma.
"The information developed, thus far, indicates Holmes Jr. and the victim had an intermittent relationship over the last couple of years. Investigators believe that sometime during the overnight hours of late Tuesday or early Wednesday Holmes drove the victim to the rural gravel road located south of Boonville where the homicide is believed to have occurred," the sheriff's deparment stated in a release.
Bryant has been formally charged, at this time, with Murder in the first degree and armed criminal action. Bond has been set at $500,000.00 cash or surety.
The motive at this time is undetermined as the investigation is continuing.
“I would like to thank the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Columbia Police Department and our deputies that are working on this investigation. All of the agencies assistance have been invaluable," Cooper County Sheriff Jerry Wolfe said.
