Young Boonville students
learn about fire safety
Boonville Mayor Julie Thacher signed a Fire Prevention Week Proclamation on Tuesday morning in front of the students from Central Missouri Community Action's Head Start Early Learning Program. Boonville Fire Chief Tim Carmichael sat beside Thacher during the signing while fire dog, Sparky stood in the back.
Students saw first hand what a fire engine looked like including a tour of the Boonville Fire Department portable quarters, which is used to teach students about fire safety.
Carmichael said the Boonville Fire Department will be visiting schools around Boonville this week to teach students about preventing fires. Next week the BFD will be visiting schools around Cooper County.
