The second Mississippi River Cleanup will be 9 a.m. to noon Saturday Oct. 12 at Hannibal’s riverfront.

Living Lands & Waters (LL&W) will provide a boat to pick up trash. Members of the Hannibal Boat Club will provide boats for volunteers.

The cleanup is sponsored by Hannibal Parks & Recreation and 1819 Stream Team. The 1819 Hannibal Stream Team was formed by the city of Hannibal and Board of Public Works to help protect Hannibal’s many waterways.

The Great Mississippi River Cleanup will remove debris such as tires, barrels, propane tanks, appliances, plastic bottles and more from the waterway and the shore. Participants in the first Mississippi River Cleanup in October 2012 cleaned more than a ton of debris.
