The Kemper Military School Alumni will hold their annual Alumni Weekend gathering October 4-6. The weekend will hold a number of activities throughout Boonville. On Friday, a Meet and Greet will be held between 6-9 p.m. at Math Hall located on the Kemper Military School Campus. Math Hall is currently being serviced by State Fair Community College. The meet and greet will include food and drinks provided by Michael Stepto. At 9 p.m. alumni will begin the reunion with a bonfire on the parade grounds behind the Kemper Campus. The rivalry between Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington and Kemper Military School has not stopped since Kemper closed. Every year alumni of both schools have participated in a trap shoot with the winner taking the traveling trophy. The trap shoot will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday at River Hill Shooting Club in Boonville. The shoot will cost $50, which includes ammunition and targets. Currently Wentworth is in possession of the trophy. At 10 a.m. Saturday alumni are invited to take a tour of Warm Springs Ranch, breeding headquarters of the Budwiser Clydesdales. Between 12-1:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at the Isle of Capri Casino-Hotel Farmer's Pick Buffet. At 5 p.m. The alumni will gather at the Flamingo Bay Ballroom for dinner and a live band to cap off the evening. Speakers for the evening will include Gen. Dennis E. Rogers, a ‘78 graduate of Kemper. Gen. Rogers has been associated with the military since graduation and has been involved with Operation Desert Fox and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kemper Military School Alumni Vice President Laura Gramlich said the alumni will honor Boonville resident and teacher Earl Lutz, who taught at Kemper for many years.
