Missouri Preservation Conference kicks off in Boonville

Preservation, A Bridge to the Future is the theme of this year's Missouri Preservation Conference, which is being held in Boonville today until Friday at multiple locations around town.
Workshops began Wednesday morning at the Isle of Capri Casino-Hotel. These workshops focused on historic building development and funding.
On Thursday, the opening session and keynote address will occur at the Isle of Capri as well. Boonville Mayor Julie Thacher will speak about Boonville and keynote speaker Linda Caldwell will speak about saving America's rural places. Block sessions will be offered after the keynote. The block session will focus on touring, historic design and spending money on buildings with leaking roofs.
On Thursday evening,  a High Street Stroll will take individuals on a walk through Boonville's historic district. Three homes will be open for tours, including the Pethan Home, the home of Paula Shannon and Thacher Funeral Home.
On Friday, a block session focusing on  bridges in Missouri, historic storefront design and a tour of Roslyn Heights.
During lunch time on Friday, a preservation legacy awards luncheon will be held at Thespian Hall.
