The Bunceton Lady Dragons softball team fell on the road against the Sturgeon Lady Bulldogs on Friday by a score of 12-4.
The Lady Dragons, who dropped to 3-2 overall, trailed Sturgeon 2-0 after one and 4-0 after three before rallying back with one run in the top-half of the fifth. However, in the bottom-half of the fifth, Sturgeon came back and added five more runs to make it 9-1. Then, in the sixth, Bunceton matched Sturgeon with three runs.
Senior Samantha Brandes took the loss in the circle for Bunceton. In 4 2/3 innings, Brandes gave up two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four batters. Lexus Chapman then came in and pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief and surrendered three runs on six walks.
Williams, meanwhile, picked up the win for the Lady Bulldogs by giving up four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters.
Williams also went 2-for-3 in the game with a single, double and one RBI.
For Bunceton, Sam Brandes went 2-for-3 with two singles and one RBI. Rachel Emde and Madeline Berwanger also had a single and one RBI while Lizzy Maddex and Deanne Emde added one single each and Morgan Wieland with one RBI.
