  • The Pilot Grove Lady Tigers softball team broke a 4-4 tie after the first inning by outscoring Stover 15-0 the rest of the way for a 19-4 victory Friday night in Pilot Grove.
The Lady Tigers, improving to 4-4 on the season, also out-hit Stover 10-2.
Pilot Grove coach Clint Poulsen said the offense started to hit the ball with more authority on Friday against Stover.
“Kerigan Wessing has been making solid contact and Katelyn Renfro had a big hit as well,” Poulsen said.  “Cynthia got off to a shaky start in the circle, but after the first inning did a great job of holding Stover to nothing.  After a long hard week, this was a good way to end it and hopefully get the ship righted with two big conference games this week and the tournament this weekend.”
Cynthia Brumback picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Tigers by giving up four runs on two hits and eight walks while striking out five batters.
As for the hitting in the game for Pilot Grove, Kerigan Wessing went 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple and three RBIs.
Melissa Schlotzhauer was 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBIs while Cynthia Brumback added a double and two RBIs, Celine Dodson with a RBI-double, McKalie Lorenz also with one double, Kayla Poulsen with a RBI-single and Katelyn Renfro with one single.
Pilot Grove also won the JV game against Stover by a score of 7-6.
Karsyn Kraus and Kirstie Schupp shared the pitching duties for the Lady Tigers while Kenzi Schuster, Kirstie Schupp and Christine Rugen each had hits in the game.
