Aquatic center makes rebound at end of pool season
Despite a cooler than average summer, the Lion's Park Aquatic Center rebounded some on attendance toward the end of the pool season, according to Boonville Parks Director Gary Nauman.
Even though Nauman said he would have liked to see more people come to the center, this year, he is happy with the 21,373 individuals who did. The number was only 6,802 short of 2012s attendance numbers.
"I did not go into this year intending to break last year's numbers," Nauman said.
Nauman said attendance over 21,000 is good.
Last year, according to Nauman, was prime pool weather because the heat caused a lot of people to come to the pool while this year, the coolness kept some away from the pool.
Nauman contributed a good season to the seasoned staff. He said many life-guards have been with the pool since the beginningand are very familiar with the facility.
He said there will be some changes for next year, which were implanted towards the end of the season. These changes allow guards to take two breaks instead of three.
"I greatly appreciate the support coming from the community," Nauman said.
Nauman said individuals as far away as Marshall, Columbia and California come to the center on a regular basis.
"The individuals we have had not just from our area, but the surrounding region, has far exceeded my expectations," Nauman said.
Revenue made from the center will be released soon.
