  • Cooper County–On the afternoon of June 25 Cooper County Deputies responded to the Alliant Bank in Blackwater for an Armed Robbery.   The suspect had fled the area prior to Deputies arrival.   During the incident a white male displayed a handgun and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Since that afternoon Cooper County Investigators have been working with the FBI and several other Missouri law enforcement agencies as well as out-of-state agencies to investigate this case and other similar cases.
On August 7th a 43 year old Arkansas man was taken into custody as a result of an armed robbery at a Papa Murphy’s Pizza located in Altoona Iowa.   Further investigation by Cooper County and FBI Investigators determined the suspect to be the same person that was responsible for the Alliant Bank robbery in Blackwater.    The suspect is also believed to be responsible for multiple robberies throughout the Midwestern states.
“I’m very proud of our Deputies for the job they have done on this investigation.   They have invested a lot of time and effort and I believe they have built a very solid case on this suspect.  We believe he has been involved in multiple robberies in the midwest”, says Sheriff Wolfe
At this time The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the suspect’s name as there are discussions with a number of local, state and federal Law enforcement agencies and Prosecutors both state and federal.
Sheriff Wolfe added, “We have certainly had discussions with the Cooper County Prosecutor in regard to our incident that occurred in Blackwater.   Both the Prosecutor’s office and the Sheriff’s Office want to make certain that the charges, whether they be state or federal, are appropriate for our local victims."
