Prayer breakfast donates to Boonslick Senior Center

Despite being cancelled this year, the annual Boonslick Prayer Breakfast held every February garnered enough donations to assist with the moving of the Boonslick Senior Center.
A check was given to the senior center Thursday afternoon
"I know it is redundant to say, but in the 19 year history of the breakfast, 2013 was the greatest challenge for the Prayer Breakfast Committee. To reach the point where all the months of planning and work had been complete and then have to cancel certainly was a disappointment to all. We rest in the fact that much prayer went into the decision. One of the critical factors was that the gracious team of 15 plus ladies from many Central Missouri senior centers who cook and serve our breakfast. They were required to travel some distant to be with us while several were still snowed in. The final decision was based on the safety of those who would attend," Boonslick Prayer Breakfast Committee Member Tom Maxwell said.
Maxwell said although the breakfast was cancelled, many businesses chose to donate the funds reserved for their table to raise $4,000.
"The committee was astounded and most appreciative that over ninety percent of the sponsors chose to donate their table payment to the senior center thus allowing us to give a check today. Each Planning Committee member stated how blessed we are to live and work in such a giving community," Maxwell said.
Boonslick Senior Center Administrator Chanda Graves said funds raised assisted with the moving cost from the old location on Main Street to the new location in the former Radio Shack building.
The senior center is currently working on completing their moving.
