Friends helping local woman fight cancer

Diane Sobelman just recently moved to Boonville but will soon realize the hospitality the community generously provides to those in need.
Sobelman, who works at the Cooper County Rural Health Clinic, has also been getting involved with Boonville Coalition for Sustainable Living.
Sobelman was diagnosed with cancer this year, which has spread to her lymph nodes.
To help assist in payment for medical bills a garage sale will be held on July 20 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cooper County Rural Health Clinic parking lot near Cooper County Memorial Hospital.
In addition food items including hot dogs, chips, water, soda and candy will also be sold at the sale. The idea originated from a few friends and family members who decided to hold a garage sell because it has been difficult for Sobelman to work around her treatment and surgery schedules. In addition, her expenses are rising and being single makes matters more difficult.
The sale will also feature a raffle.
"We are selling raffle tickets for $1 each or six for $5 and that will go on until September 2 when we will hold the drawing.  All of the money from these sales will go to pay for Diane’s medical costs, all of the items we are selling and raffling have been donated by local businesses, fellow employees, friends or family members of Diane," friend Jennifer Elliott said.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at the benefit or by calling Elliott at (660)537-2448.
"We are also holding a separate raffle that will end on August 1, which consists of giving away two tickets to a Loretta Lynn Concert at the Isle of Capri Casino on August 9. These special raffle tickets are $5 each," Elliott said.
“I feel so blessed to be a part of this community. The showing of support, caring and love is overwhelming” Sobelman said.
