  • Alliant Bank surges past Pilot Grove 12-2 in Senior Babe Ruth

  • Alliant Bank saved little back against Pilot Grove Sunday night in Senior Babe Ruth action at Twillman field in Harley park.
    Although Alliant Bank only out-hit Pilot Grove 5-4, they took advantage of 10 errors while scoring a total of seven runs in the first-three innings en route to a 12-2 victory.
    Meanwhile, in the nightcap, UMB Bank rallied from a 9-6 deficit with four runs in the bottom-half of the seventh to beat Edward Jones by a score of 10-9.
    After plating two runs in the top-half of the first, Alliant Bank came back and added another run in the second on a steal home by Kendall Kraus. Then, after holding Pilot Grove scoreless again in its half of the second, Alliant Bank came back and tacked on four more runs in the third to go up 7-0.
    Meanwhile, after a scoreless fourth, Alliant Bank sent another run across in the fifth and four again in the sixth on the double by Zach Nixon.
    Alliant Bank also used pitcher by committee against Pilot Grove. While Trevor Day picked up the win in 3 1/3 innings of work, Zach Nixon, Jordan Bledsoe and Ethan Sander also took their turns on the mound.
    Day allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out one. Nixon then came in and pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and issued one hit while striking out three. Meanwhile, after Bledsoe gave up two runs on one hit and two walks, Sander came in and pitched one inning and walked one while striking out two.
    For Pilot Grove, Alex Twenter pitched the first-two innings and gave up five runs, two earned, one two hits and three walks. Reagan Meisenheimer then came in and pitched three innings in relief and yielded five runs, one earned, on three hits and four walks while striking out four.
    Landon Ball went 2-for-3 in the game for Alliant Bank with a single, double and two runs scored. Trevor Day also had two hits with a single, double, one RBI and two runs scored while Zach Nixon added a double, one RBI with two runs scored. Also scoring one run each for Alliant Bank were Kelsey Callaway, Chase Snapp and Ethan Sander.
    For Pilot Grove, Regan Meisenheimer went 2-for-3 with two singles and one RBI. Grant Felten and Jacob Twenter each had one single while Ben Glenn added one RBI.
    In the nightcap, Edward Jones and UMB Bank matched either other with two runs in the first.
    Meanwhile, after a scoreless second, Edward Jones came back and outscored UMB Bank 2-1 in the third to go up 4-3.
    But even that was short-lived as UMB Bank rallied back with one in the fifth and two again in the sixth to make it 6-4. Then, after Edward Jones exploded for five runs in the top-half of the seventh to regain the lead at 9-6, UMB Bank rallied back again with four runs in the bottom-half of the inning for the come from behind victory.
    Page 2 of 2 - Josh Judd, who pitched two innings in relief of starter John Reese, was the winning pitcher in the game for UMB Bank. Reese pitched the first-five innings and gave up four runs, two earned, on six hits and one walk while striking out one. Judd then came in and pitched two innings in relief and surrendered five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three.
    For Edward Jones, Addison Jobe pitched the first-five innings and issued six runs, four earned, on 10 hits while striking out nine. Caleb Hein then came in and pitched one inning in relief to suffer the loss by giving up four runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks while striking out two batters.
    UMB Bank also out-hit Edward Jones 12-11, with Jalen Poindexter going 2-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBIs. Poindexter also scored two runs.
    Jacob Francis was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and one RBI with two runs scored while Josh Judd added a single, double, two RBIs and one run scored, Tyler Spence with two singles and one RBI, Alex Mathews  with one single, one RBI and one run scored, Sean Lorenz, John Reese and Austin Henderson each with one single and Jared Oser with one run scored.
    For Edward Jones, Alec Viertel went 2-for-3 with a single, double, one RBI and three runs scored. Alex Holem was 2-for-4 with a single, double, one RBI and two runs scored while Nick Ruffy added two singles, two RBIs and one run scored, Tyler Silvey with two singles, one RBI and one run scored, Quincy Banuet with one double and two RBIs, Alex Gerlach with one single and one RBI, Addison Jobe with one single and Dylan Albertson with two runs scored.
