Two River Rats for the Arts members are making sure the front of Turner Hall, located near Thespian Hall, will be around for another 100 years.
Not long after David Oswald purchased the hall over 20 years ago, construction of the front entry began with help from area resident Tom Burns. Oswald said although that was only 17 years ago, they are at it again, reconstructing much of what they did back then.
To construct the front initially they used one photograph, which showed the front in its hay day.
Instead of using all wood, Oswald and Burns are using wielded galvanized posts and placing wood around them to make them look authentic. They will be doing the rails the same way as well. The new columns will be wrapped in wood but will also have a steel interior.
Work will continue through the summer.
