  • The Boonville City Council discussed an annexation proposal at the Monday evening city council meeting.
"This has a fairly long history now, which started back from the failed annexation about five to six years ago," Boonville City Administrator Irl Tessendorf said.
After a voluntarily annexation failed, the City will pursue plans for an involuntarily annexation.
The current proposal consists of a much smaller annexation, which includes Hail Ridge Golf Course owned by Bill Rapp, located near Highway 87 and Interstate 70. The proposal would annex the last main corridor into Boonville.
Infrastructure is already in place, which includes water and sewage.
The City will also have community forums before the council votes and decides to put the annexation on the ballot.
Boonville Ward One Councilman Mike Kelley said the residents who will be annexed will see a brighter future and increased property values.
Rapp is excited about the prospects of again maybe getting annexed into the city.
"We were disappointed the last annexation attempt failed. It was so narrowly defeated, which is what hurt the most," Rapp said.
Rapp said the area has great potential for development.
"I think it is estential we have a long term annexation agreement with the City of Boonville," Rapp said.
Boonville City Planner Megan McGuire said she recommends having three readings of the bill with a community forum before the second reading.
In further news the council heard the first reading of authorizing an agreement for professional project managment and fundraising services for the Kemper Campus with Marsha Drennon.
