  • Although temperatures hovered around the 80 degree mark at race time, that didn’t seem to stop the 85 actual runners/walkers who participated in the Fifth annual Heritage Days 5K Saturday in Boonville.
Of course after the shooting of the gun to start the race, former Boonville wrestler Greg Linhart emerged as the winner in a time of 20 minutes and 12 seconds.  Kris Stodgel, meanwhile, captured first for the women in the 5K run in a time of 25 minutes and 7 seconds.
As for the 5K walk, David Bruce crossed the finish line first in a time of 37 minutes and 20 seconds while Helen Bruce finished second in a time of 38 minutes and 37 seconds.
According to race director TC Meller, the run raised approximately $1,500 for the 2014 Relay for Life. Meller also mapped out a new course this year, which was sponsored by Boonville Caterpillar. “To the best of my knowledge, we had 55 participants last year. Next year will be a joint effort due to Nordyne’s closing,” Meller said.
