  • Gochenour, Draffen, Bookout and Kempf scramble to first

  • The team of Cathy Gochenour, Joyce Draffen, Merrlyn Bookout and Marsha Kempf carded a 2-under par 33 to capture first in the Ladies Guest Day Tournament Monday at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville.
    The team of Milly Rapp, Patty Thorne, Kay Simon and Bonnie Howard, meanwhile, finished second after a scorecard playoff also with a score of 35.
    Also shooting 35 on the front nine of the tournament were the teams of Peg Eddy, Nancy Scott, Glenda Veulemans and Debra Stonner, the team of Gayla Smith, Wendy Sheehan, Marty Howell and Karlene Bestgen and the team of Dana Williams, Dana Reagan, Mary Wilson and Dorothy Teeter.
    In A-flight, the team of Kimberly Page, Cindy Gentry, Christie Hunter and Beverly Eichelberger shot a 1-over par 36 to capture first in that flight.
    The team of Bernadette Cleary, Mary Thies, Pam Rapp, Kim Knigge and Sherry Shelton, meanwhile, finished second in A-flight with a score of 36. Shooting a 2-over par 37 was the team of Stephanie Newman, Sherry Shannon, Shelly Copeland and Cindy Lang.
    In B-flight, the team of Leslie Raines, Linda Alspach, Pat Weir and Juanita Herring shot a 3-over par 38 to capture first in that flight. Finishing second, also with a score of 38, was the team of Richelle Kluck, Holly Peterson, Kay Bradley and Monica Evans.
    Also with a score of 38 was the team of Udy McSparin, Nancy Syron, Vickie Zeller and Alyson Miller.
    A total of 45 golfers took part in tournament, which consisted of a four-person scramble format with 11 teams, from Columbia, Tipton, Sedalia, Marshall and Boonville.
    After awards and numerous door prizes, a meal was catered by Elaine Gramlich. The Hail Ridge ladies play every Monday at 5:30 p.m.
