The Lyceum Theatre opens the Tony Award winning musical, Fiddler on the Roof Saturday, June, 22 at 2 p.m. In the little village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social morals and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Fiddler on the Roof’s celebrated score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, features songs loved the world over.
The role of Tevye is played by Lyceum favorite Dana Snyder. Dana most recently played the role of the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz.
On the heels of her role as the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz, Cathy Newman will be playing Tevye’s wife Golde.
Playing the roles five daughters are Melissa Weyn as Tzeitel, Dakota Mackey-McGee as Hodel, Andrea Dotto as Chava, Delaney Jo Sauer as Bielke and Andreinne Kay Sauer as Bielke. Playing love interests for the older sisters will be Tony Mansker as Motel, Chris Ware as Perchik and Josh Canfield as Fyedka. Beth Leonard returns to the Lyceum stage playing the role of Yente, the gossipy village matchmaker.
Whit Reichert plays the role of Lazar Wolf the butcher.
Rounding out the cast are Quin Gresham, Harold Hynick, Thomas Blake Hogan, Nollie Moore, Alex Reitze, Annie Malin, Lauren Rooney, Michael McKenzie, April Woodall, Paula Bear, Jonathan Schriock, Sam Hay, Hayden Stanes, Sean Widener, Leslie Walker and Carter Paulen Moore.
Len Pfluger returns to Arrow Rock to direct Fiddler on the Roof. Len directed and choreographed last season’s Nunsense Jamboree.
