  • Sell’s Carpet edges Huebert Fiberboard, 10-9

  • Sell’s Carpet broke a 8-8 tie with two runs in the top-half of the eighth to beat Huebert Fiberboard in Cal Ripken Major Sunday night at Harley park.
    As for the second game between Infinite Creations and Rick Ball Auto Mall, they will have to wait another day as the game was called in the third inning due to incoming storms and excessive lightning.
    As for the early game, Huebert Fiberboard jumped out on top with two runs in the bottom-half of the first only to have Sell’s Carpet rally back with two runs in the top-half of the third to tie the game at 2-all. Meanwhile, after Huebert Fiberboard plated one run in each of the third and fourth innings of play to go up 4-2, Sell’s Carpet rallied back again with a four spot in the fifth and two in the sixth to make it 8-4.
    But even that was short-lived as Huebert Fiberboard sent four runs across again in the sixth to knot the game at 8-all. Then, after a scoreless seventh, Sell’s Carpet added two more runs in the eighth to push the lead to 10-8 only to have Huebert Fiberboard send one run across in the bottom-half of the inning.
    Sam Esser picked up the win in relief for Sell’s Carpet, 3-1 on the season, while Josh Chrisman took the loss for Huebert Fiberboard, 1-3 on the season.
    Esser pitched two innings and gave up just one run on two hits and one walk while striking out two.
    Reece Lang started the game and pitched 2 1/3 innings and surrendered three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six. Carson Campbell then came in and pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief and yielded five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five.
    For Huebert Fiberboard, Chrisman pitched two innings in relief and issued two runs on two hits and one walk.
    Triston Hauptmann started the game and pitched the first-four innings, giving up two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out 10. Clayton Gochenour then came in and pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and allowed five runs on two hits and four walks while striking out three. Then, before Chrisman to closeout the game, Quin Gentry pitched 1/3 inning-plus and gave up one run on three hits and one walk.
    Ethan VanDyke went 3-for-5 in the game for Sell’s Carpet with three singles and three RBIs. Carson Campbell and Reece Lang each had one single, one double and one RBI while Brandon Johnson added one triple and two RBIs.
    For Huebert Fiberboard, Quin Gentry went 4-for-5 with two singles, two doubles and three RBIs. Clayton Gochenour was 2-for-4 with two singles and four RBIs while Keegan Baker added two singles and Will Neckerman and Dominic Barber with one single each.

    CARSTAR, who dropped to 3-2 on the season, led Sell’s Carpet 1-0 after the first and 2-0 after the second. However, for the rest of the game, Sell’s Carpet dominated CARSTAR by scoring 10 unanswered runs with two in the third, five again in the fifth and three in the sixth to go up 10-2. Meanwhile, in the bottom-half of the sixth, CARSTAR sent two more runs across to cut the deficit to six.
    Reece Lang was the pitcher of record in the game for Sell’s Carpet while Jake Horst took the loss for CARSTAR. Lang pitched the first-three innings and struck out four batters while giving up two runs on four hits. Carson Campbell then came in and pitched three innings in relief and allowed two runs on two hits.
    For CARSTAR, Cole Meisenheimer pitched the first-four innings and issued two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out seven. Horst then came in and pitched part of the fifth and surrendered four runs on one hit and three walks. Meanwhile, after Zayne Mesik pitched one-plus innings and yielded three runs on one hit and three walks while striking out one, Josh Polk came in and pitched one inning and gave up one run on one hit and two walks.
    Lang also had three hits in the game for Sell’s Carpet with a single, two doubles and three RBIs. Brandon Johnson was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs while Carson Campbell added one single.
    For CARSTAR, Ross Hudson went 2-for-3 with two singles while Brayden Page added one double, Cole Meisenheimer with one single and one RBI, Josh Polk and Laben Twenter each with one single and Jake Horst with one RBI.
    In the nightcap, Infinite Creations rallied from a 6-5 deficit after three innings against QuinlanAgency.com by exploding for nine runs in the fourth for a 14-8 victory.
    Malik Brazil picked up the win on the mound for Infinite Creations while Tyler Schuster took the loss for QuinlanAgency.com, who dropped to 0-4.
    Kellen Brownfield started the game and pitched one inning and surrendered three runs on one hit and three walks while striking out two. Austin Kollmeyer then came in and pitched 2/3 inning in relief and issued three runs on five walks while striking out two. Then, to finish the game, Brazil pitched 2 1/3 innings and yielded two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two.
    For QA.com, Heath Danner pitched the first-three innings and allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two. Tyler Schuster then came in and pitched one inning in relief and gave up nine runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one.
    Page 3 of 3 - Infinite Creations also out-hit QA.com 10-4, with Dylan Barnthouse going 4-for-4 with two singles, two doubles and six RBIs. Kellen Brownfield was 2-for-2 with a single, double and one RBI while Carter Bailey and Colton Scott added two singles and one RBI each and Malik Brazil with one double and one RBI.
    For QA.com, Blake Vaughn went 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI. Tyler Schuster also doubled while Gage Smith added a single and one RBI and Gavin Foster with one single.
