The Boonville Daily News appeared to have its hands full for 4 1/2 innings last night in the first game against Rt. B Cafe in Cal Ripken Minor and then in the bottom-half of the fifth the BDN exploded for five runs for a 9-5 victory.
As for the nightcap, Einspahr Construction broke a 2-2 tie after 2 1/2 by outscoring Boonville Ready Mix 12-1 over the next-three innings to win by a score of 14-3.
Boonville Daily News, 3-2 on the season, opened the game with one run in the bottom-half of the first only to have Rt. B Cafe rally back with two runs in the top-half of the second. Meanwhile, in the bottom-half of the second, the BDN plated another run to tie the game at 2-all. Then, after Rt. B Cafe added another run in the third, the BDN came back and sent across two runs in the fourth to go up by a score of 4-3. But even that was short-lived as Rt. B Cafe put up two more runs in the top-half of the fifth to make it 5-4 only to have BDN rally back with a five spot in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.
Drew Vossler picked up the win on the mound for BDN while Bryce Harris took the loss for Rt. B Cafe, who dropped to 0-4. Vossler pitched three innings in relief of starter Axton Nease and gave up three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four. Harris, meanwhile, started the game and pitched 3 2/3 innings for Rt. B Cafe and struck out six batters while giving up four runs on four hits and one walk.
Boonville Daily News also out-hit Rt. B Cafe 6-5, with Nathaniel Krebs going 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs and two RBIs. Cade Schupp was 2-for-3 with a single, double and one RBI while Jacob Vossler added one triple and Alex VanDyke with one RBI.
For Rt. B Cafe, DeAndre Wesolak went 2-for-4 with two singles while Cameron Ridgeway added one double, Brett Thompson with a RBI-single, Cameron Ray with one single and Peyton Hahn with one RBI.
In the nightcap, Boonville Ready Mix and Einspahr Construction were locked in a 1-1 tie after the first inning. Then, after Einspahr added one in its half of the second, BRM came back and tied the game with one in the top-half of the third to tie the game at 2-all.
Unfortunately for BRM, they never got any closer as Einspahr Construction stormed back with a three spot in the bottom-half of the third, five again in the fourth and four in the fifth for the victory.
Cody Garner picked up the win on the mound for Einspahr Construction while Elijah Carter took the loss for Boonville Ready Mix, who dropped to 3-2 on the season.
Page 2 of 2 - Garner pitched the first-four innings and struck out 10 batters while giving up two runs on four hits and one walk. Kayle Rice then came in and pitched one inning in relief and allowed one run on one hit and three walks while striking out three.
Carter, meanwhile, started the game and pitched 2 1/3 innings and issued four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five.
Einspahr Construction, who improved to 4-1 on the season, also out-hit Boonville Ready Mix 9-5.
Garner also led the hitting attack in the game for Einspahr Construction with one single, two doubles, one triple and six RBIs.
Xavier Reed was 2-for-3 with a single, double and two RBIs while Kayle Rice added one double and one RBI, Travionne Gardner with a RBI-single, Tysen Dowell with one single and Colton Collyott with two RBIs.
For Boonville Ready Mix, Elijah Carter went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple. Memphis Waibel was 2-for-3 with two singles and one RBI while Bailey Quint added one single.
