Boonville Caterpillar raised its season record to 2-0 by beating C&R Market in Midget League action last night at Kemper park by a score of 12-1.
Boonville Caterpillar never trailed in the game against C&R Market and led 2-0 after one, 8-0 after two and 12-0 after three. Meanwhile, in the fourth inning, C&R Market rallied back with one run to avoid the shutout.
Austin Rice picked up the win on the mound for Caterpillar while Michael Bullard took the loss for C&R Market, who dropped to 0-2 on the season. In three innings, Rice struck out seven batters and gave up three hits and one walk. Austin Schuster then came in and pitched one inning in relief and issued one run on four walks while striking out three batters.
For C&R Market, Bullard pitched the first-two innings and surrendered eight runs on three hits and 10 walks while striking out four batters.
Caterpillar also out-hit C&R Market 6-3, with Luke Green going 2-for-3 with a single, double and three RBIs. Ethan Watson had a double and four RBIs while Marcus Connelly added a double and one RBI, Alex Elliott with a single and two RBIs and Austin Schuster with one single.
For C&R Market, Henry Rohrbach tripled while Zach Brown and Eli Stock singled.
