New Franklin junior pitcher Tyler Hull tossed a no-hit shutout and also struck out nine batters, leading the Bulldogs past Salisbury last night 14-0.
The Bulldogs, 8-4 on the season, scored five runs in each of the second and fourth innings of play and four again in the fifth to win by the mercy rule.
New Franklin coach Erich Gerding said Tyler Hull obviously had a great game, culminated by the no-hitter and a grand slam in the second.
In five innings pitched, Hull walked just two batters while striking out nine. He also went 3-for-3 in the game with a single, triple, grand slam home run and seven RBIs.
Tanner White and Dylan Johnson each had a single and two RBIs while Tyler White, Adam Harris and Zach Evans finished the game with one single each.
In the JV game, Salisbury defeated New Franklin 8-2.
TJ Schapira took the loss on the mound for New Franklin by giving up five runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks in two innings. Schapira also struck out three batters. Kaleb Anderton, meanwhile, pitched one one inning in relief and allowed three runs on four hits.
Zach Evans had the only hit in the game for New Franklin, being a single.
