Madi Lyons captures high point medalist with first place finishes in HJ, 800 and 1600

The Glasgow boys and girls track teams were double winners Wednesday during the CAC Track Meet at Westran.
While the Lady Yellowjackets won by only 6.5 points against second-place finisher New Franklin 178-171.50, the Glasgow boys ran away with the title by accumulating 253 points. The New Franklin boys, meanwhile, finished a distant second with 132 points.
Of course the Lady Bulldogs had their share of first-place finishes. Madi Lyons, who was high point medalist, captured first in the high jump at 4-10, 800-meter run in 2:40.72 and 1600-meter run in 6:03.78. She also took fifth in the 400 in 1:08.26.
Other first place finishers were Sara Montgomery in the 400 in 1:05.19, Jasmyne Boggs in the long jump at 13’-5 1/4”, Abi Schapira in the 3200 in 13:42 and the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Saundra Perkins, Grace Chambers, Jasmyne Boggs and Sara Montgomery in 55.35 seconds.
Montgomery also took second in both the 100 and 200 in times of 13.78 and 28.15 seconds, respectively. Boggs finished second in both the triple jump at 31’-11 1/2” and discus at 100’-7”. Schapira, meanwhile, placed second in the 1600 in 6:23.81.
Third place finishers were Perkins in both the 100 and 200 in 14.31 and 29.68 seconds, respectively, and the 4 x 800-meter relay team of Rossetti Cleeton, Brittany Anderson, Molly Lyons and Abi Schapira in 11:51.5.
As for the New Franklin boys, Jacob Hendrix won the high jump at 5’-6” while Darrell Greenfield garnered first in the 3200 in 11:50. Matt Anderton also won the long jump with a leap of 17’-3 1/2”.
Second place finishers were Hendrix in the 100 in 12.58 seconds, Greenfield in the 1600 in 5:27.72 and Kenneth Boggs in the discus at 99’-8 1/4”.
Finishing third were Hendrix in the 200 in 25.43 seconds and long jump at 17’-0” and Jared Wyatt in the discus at 82’-11”.
