How about an evening out? Maybe dinner and a play? Or maybe 18 plays. Sounds like a really long evening doesn't it? But fear not, the plays are only three minutes long. It's time again, for the Turner Hall River Rats for the Arts to present Dinner Included: An Evening of Very Short Plays. The three-course meal and staged readings of the 3-minute plays will be Sunday, April 28 at 6:30 PM at Turner Hall, 518 Main Street in Boonville.
This year, I was fortunate to have a play I wrote selected. Now that I'm a playwright, I plan to start wearing a beret' and becoming moody and eccentric. Other writers of the selected plays are Cary Butters, Hillary Carter, Kaitlyn Gebhard, Courtney Grissum, Svetlana Grobman, Heather Harlan, Jeanne Heuser, Holly Hughes, Steve Jones, Kathy Kelly, Shirley King, Megan Kraus, Lesley Oswald, Joan Read, Loretta Srch, Ellen Sweeney, and Taylor Tutin. This is quite a diverse group, and the plays reflex this. There's drama, suspense, tragedy, and of course comedy. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe!
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Family Shoe Store, 407 Main Street or by calling 660-882-2390. Seating is limited and reservations are required by April 24.
The Turner Hall River Rats group is one of the reasons I love Boonville. River Rats for the Arts is a not-for-profit cultural arts organization founded in 2003. The Rats are a group of art loving folks with a mission to share that love. Boonville is very lucky to have such a great organization that brings so many creative opportunities to the area. Support the River Rats by becoming a Rat! To become a member call 660-882-3300. Hope to see you at Turner Hall on the 28th. Love your town, buy local, play local and Go Boonville.
