There was a large turnout Thursday evening for the official ribbon cutting of the new American Family Insurance Agency located at 317 Main Street. Agent Jasen Matyas welcomed everyone to the new office and showed the improvements that have happened since he opened up in early March. The building he is operating in was the former Gramma Sophies and Main Street Gift Gallery.
Matyas said he was excited to be on Main Street in downtown and part of the Boonville community. He said he chose the building because he liked the size and visible location.
"The walk-in traffic has been wonderful. I have also been getting out meeting everyone that I can within the community," he said.
Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce members were also on hand to express their thankfulness to see a new business downtown.
Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce President Craig Meyer said he is glad more businesses are choosing to be located downtown and are filling in vacant areas along Main Street.
At 5:30 p.m., the ribbon cutting was held as guests packed themselves behind Matyas as he cut the ribbon to mark the official start of his insurance agency.
