  • As students at Boonville High School (BHS) prepare for the end of the school year, many look forward to prom. This year's theme was Royal Masquerade and many students accompanied their dresses and tuxes with masks. Shoes were shined and dresses were puffed out as the prom candidates had the spotlight on them as they walked in front of the crowd! Crowned Prom Queen and King were seniors Zoe Root and Richard Bell. Filled with joy and excitement, the crowned queen and king shared their thoughts on the night.
"I had an amazing night. It was great to be with my friends, especially since it's my senior year. I was really excited to be crowned king," Bell said.
Root said she was very excited to be nominated for prom queen.
"I didn't expect to win but it was a good surprise! it was the best prom yet," she said.
Along with the crowned Queen and King, junior Grady Kay was crowned Prom Prince and Estefany Bustamante was crowned Princess.
Following the dance, there was a Post Prom party at the Boonslick Heartland YMCA. With multiple large prizes being given away, students didn't walk away empty handed.
Three 32-inch flat screen televsions were given to three different seniors, one of which was Tina Dungan.
"Post prom was so much fun and winning a TV was the best part of my night! It is going to be great for college," said Tina Dungan.
Winning a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, (which retails at Best Buy for $249.99), Amanda Cook shared her thoughts on post prom.
"My night was went great; I was spending time with all my friends and when time came to draw names to win the big prizes, they drew my name and I was so excited," Cook said.
Other prizes, including a mini fridge, microwave, countless gift cards, grills and many more, were given to randomly drawn students.
Food was served and entertainment included lazer tag, a free photo booth, a money machine, music played by DJ Kenzie Ficken and inflatable obstacles. Students enjoyed a safe, priceless night and were very pleased with the outcome.
