  • Spring has sprung. Finally. On Saturday, April 6, the FOL will be holding their Spring Book Sale in front of the library on Main Street from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Come by and stock up at great prices. It’s Missouri and you never know when there will be a rainy afternoon just right for reading.
    If it rains, the sale will be moved inside.
    “They Came From Missouri,” a lecture series to raise funds for the new library, will begin on Thursday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at Cooper’s Oak Winery on Main Street in Boonville. Liz Davis will be speaking on Missouri Writers: Twain, Wilder, & Truman.
    Other dates and speakers include: May 9, 1 p.m., Mary Ann Snapp on George C. Bingham; June 6, 1 p.m., Mike Dickey on Vincent Sappington Marmaduke; and for the only evening performance Bob Priddy will speak at 7 p.m. on June 20.
    Tickets will be sold throughout the first three months for a copy of “The ART of the Capitol: History in Canvas, Bronze, and Stone” by Bob Priddy and Jeffrey Ball, which will be given away on June 20.
    Larry Allen, author of “Do Come In” (a book of historically accurate poems about Lizzie Borden) will kick off the second half of the series on July 11 with a presentation on Jesse James.
    Mark your calendar for August 8, September 12, and October 10, then watch for details on speakers and topics. An original work of art will be given away at the October 10 presentation.
    Cost of admission, free-will donation at the door. Tickets for the drawings are $1 or 6/$5.
    Other activities at the library:
    Story time for 2-5 year-olds will be Tuesdays April 9 and April 16 at 10a.m.
    Boonslick Creative Writers’ will meet Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m., new members welcome.
    Boonville Book Club will meet on Wednesday, April 17 at 10 a.m. They will be discussing “Forgetting Ireland.”
