  • The council meeting held Monday was the last Boonville City Council meeting for Boonville Ward 1 Councilwoman Kathleen Conway as she is not seeking re-election. An applause erupted towards the end of the meeting to congratulate her on her time on the council.
"I wanted to recognize that she contributed all of her net salary for her time to the council to the Boonville animal shelter, through works of the Boonville Community Foundation," Boonville City Administrator Irl Tessendorf said.
"I would like to thank the city staff for the time they have given me during the three years I have been on the council. They have helped me understand when I have had any questions," Conway said. "I find the iner-workings fascinating,"
Conway leaves after three years of being on the council after originally being appointed to by Boonville Mayor Julie Thacher to fill her vacant spot once she became mayor. Conway ran for the council a year later defeating Jason Roe.
In other news Thacher gave the council an update on touring the Kemper Campus. She said Boonville City Parks Director Gary Nauman is ready to take council members on a tour whenever they want to.
In old business the Second Reading of Bill No. 2013-011, which would change the water meter rental charge, passed after being at the same rate since the early 1960s.
Under new business, the first reading to consider parking restriction request for the Motorcycle Prison Ministry Event on June 1 will proceed to be read for a second time. Furthermore, the first readings of bills approving tourism contracts for services, approving gaming contracts for services and accept a tax credit agreement for the Katy Bridge, also will be read one more time at the next meeting.
Thacher also urged everyone to get out and vote Tuesday. She said the swearing in of the new council members would be before the next council meeting.
