  • COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Show-Me State Games along with Shelter Insurance® are excited to announce the dates and cities for the 2013 Torch Run. 
    The mission of the Shelter Insurance Show-Me State Games torch run is to generate exposure and enthusiasm for the Show-Me State Games throughout Missouri.  The Show-Me State Games is an Olympic-style sports festival offering more than 40 events for all ages and ability levels.  The 2013 GAMES will take place on June 14-16, July 19-21 and July 26-28 in Columbia, Mo.
    The torch run will take place in six cities throughout Missouri in June and July including:
    ·         Springfield:  June 25 at Jordan Valley Park
    ·         Joplin:   June 26 at Cunningham Park
    ·         Lee's Summit:  July 2 at Shelter Insurance®
    ·         St. Charles:  July 9 at Frontier Park
    ·         Jefferson City:  July 19 at the Missouri State Capitol
    ·         Columbia:  July 19 at Shelter Insurance®The torch run will culminate with the Opening Ceremonies festivities at Mizzou Arena on Friday, July 19 at 7 p.m.
    "We look forward to bringing this Olympic tradition back to the GAMES and we are so grateful for the support of Shelter Insurance® in helping make this possible," said Ken Ash, Executive Director of the Show-Me State Games. 
    The last time the Show-Me State Games hosted a torch run was more than ten years ago.  The support of Shelter Insurance® is making this event possible.

    The Show-Me STATE GAMES was established in 1985 as a non-profit program of the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness & Health.  Now the largest state games in the nation, the Show-Me State Games is hosted by the University of Missouri. In addition to the summer games, the Show-Me State Games offers events throughout the year to promote health, fitness, family and fun. The Show-Me State Games generates $15 million in economic impact annually in Columbia.
