Boonville — The Boonville Tourism Commission is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Tourism Awards. This is the first year for the awards. The Tourism Commission is partnering with the Historic Preservation Commission for a joint community awards night on Thursday, May 16 at the Katy Depot.
"The Boonville Tourism Commission felt it was time we recognize individuals, and organizations that have gone above and beyond to promote tourism in Boonville and Cooper County. We're proud for the opportunity to recognize these folks who work on behalf of tourism and are among our great ambassadors for Boonville and the region," Boonville Tourism Assistant Director Sherry Broyles said.
The Tourism Commission wants to recognize the dedication of those who promote tourism in Boonville and Cooper County. There are four categories of awards: Ambassador, Hall of Fame, Special Event, and Hospitality. Anyone can submit a nomination.
Ambassador Award recognizes an individual, group or business whose long-term contributions (minimum of 10 years) have positively affected tourism in Boonville and Cooper County.
Hall of Fame is presented to an individual, group or business who has demonstrated a long-term commitment to tourism. The nominee's work should have left a lasting impression on the local tourism industry.
Special Event Award is presented to a festival, fair or other special celebration. Nominees can be a new or an established event that promotes tourism activity in Cooper County.
Hospitality Award is presented to the individual or business who has demonstrated a willingness and ability to go "beyond the call of duty" in service to Cooper County visitors.
Nomination forms are available on www.boonvillemo.org by contacting the Boonville Tourism Office. All nominations are due by Friday, April 19. They can be emailed to email@example.com, faxed to 660-882-3968 or mailed to Boonville Tourism Office at 320 First Street, Boonville, MO 65233.
