  • The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a Winter Storm Watch effective until Sunday evening for Cooper County. The watch area is expected to receive significant snow accumulations.
A release from the National Weather Service states confidence is increasing that a broad winter storm will impact the entire area through Sunday. Six to 10 inches of snow is expected along and south of Interstate 70.
Boonville Public Works Director M.L. Cauthon said they are planning for the next storm.
"We just received another 300 tons of salt on top of the 300 tons we already have," Cauthon said.
Cauthon said they are currently putting trucks back together in anticipation of the storm. He said they had taken the blades off because of cleanup from the last snow storm in February.
Cauthon said that with temperatures expected to stay just above freezing throughout the day Sunday, the roads may not be the issue but weight of the snow may cause limbs and power lines to fail.
