The Boonville Pirates sixth grade basketball team fell in the fifth-place game in the Tipton Tournament over the weekend, losing to the Jeff City Knight’s A-team 38-24.
The Knights led Boonville 13-12 at the half and then outscored the Pirates 25-12 in the second half.
Tyler Schuster had the high game for Ss. Peter & Paul with seven points along with three steals, one rebound and one assist.
Malik Brazil added six points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist while Reece Lang chipped in four points, one rebound and one steal, Kellen Brownfield with two points, five rebounds and one steal, Dylan Watson with six rebounds, Clayton Gochenour with two points and one rebound, Cole Meisenheimer with one point, two rebounds, one steal and one assist, Trae Williams with five rebounds and one steal and Zack Watring with one rebound.
Boonville coach Kevin Lang said the boys played good aggressive defense and rebounded well in the first game. “We came out cold in the second half of the second game,” Lang said. “You’re not going to win many games by going scoreless in the third quarter. The boys had a nice season though and are fun to coach.”
In order to play in the fifth-place game, the Pirates defeated the Jeff City Knight’s B squad earlier in the tournament by a score of 38-26.
Boonville led Jeff City 17-11 at the half and then outscored the Knights 21-15 in the second half.
Reece Lang had 13 points, one steal and one assist in the game for Boonville.
Dylan Watson finished the game with eight points, six rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot while Malik Brazil added eight points, three rebounds, three steals and one assist, Clayton Gochenour with seven points, five rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot, Kellen Brownfield with one point and four steals, Trae Williams with one point, two rebounds and one steal, Tyler Schuster with five rebounds, five steals and two assists and Zack Watring with three rebounds and one steal.
