Prairie Home — Sage Eichenburch, a seventh grader at Prairie Home R-V School, participated in the district spelling bee hosted by the Columbia Daily Tribune. Over 50 participants from central Missouri represented their schools in the annual competition at Christian Fellowship School in Columbia. The winner of the spelling bee then proceeds to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., to for compete cash, prizes and scholarships.
Sage placed fourth in the regional spelling bee successfully spelled words like “cachet,” “mariachi” and “bambino.” He misspelled a word in the 11th round. The spelling bee continued for 19 rounds before a winner was declared.
Students can participate in the spelling bee through their 8th grade year. Sage is already excited about the possibility of winning the regional bee next year!
