The Bunceton girls and Pilot Grove boys basketball teams did its part during the 2012-13 season by finishing the conference season undefeated.
Of course to get to that point, the two teams also had outstanding play from two individuals who were selected as MVPs in the CCAA conference. While leading the team in both scoring and rebounding, junior Rachel Emde was also one of the reasons why the Lady Dragons captured their first district championship. As for Pilot Grove freshman Mason Schlotzhauer, he did a little bit of everything while leading the team in both scoring and free-throw percentage.
In the final-team standings for the girls, Bunceton captured first at 6-0. Otterville, meanwhile, finished second at 5-1, followed by Pilot Grove at 4-2, Jamestown at 3-3, Prairie Home at 2-4, Higbee at 1-6 and Malta Bend at 0-6.
As for the final-team standings for the boys, Pilot Grove went through the conference unbeaten at 6-0. Otterville finished second at 5-1, followed by Prairie Home, Jamestown and Bunceton each at 3-3, Higbee at 1-5 and Malta Bend at 0-6.
Joining Rachel Emde on the first team in the CCAA conference were Erica Kahle of Bunceton, Kerigan Wessing of Pilot Grove, Kendra Stinson of Prairie Home and Mickayla Strother and Alli Muri of Jamestown.
Second team selections were Melissa Schlotzhauer of Pilot Grove, Makayla Zey of Prairie Home, Maddy Berwanger of Bunceton, Lexi Muri of Jamestown and Hope Clark of Higbee.
Players selected to the honorable-mention team were Mackenzie Strother of Jamestown, McKalie Lorenz and McKenzi Schuster of Pilot Grove, Sam Brandes of Bunceton and Katlynn Watson of Prairie Home.
Pilot Grove, Bunceton and Jamestown each had four players selected to the all-conference team for the girls while Prairie Home had three and Higbee one.
Joining Schlotzhauer on the first team for the boys were Kendall Kraus of Pilot Grove, Ryan Benny of Otterville, Trever Huth of Prairie Home, Jake Gaskell of Otterville and Alden Rohrbach of Jamestown.
Second team selections were Colton Glenn of Pilot Grove, Rayce Kendrick of Prairie Home, Jacob Clevenger and Kyler Tucker of Bunceton and Devin Rockett of Otterville.
Players selected to the honorable-mention team were Devin Cook of Higbee, Sam Distler of Prairie Home, Justin Halgren of Otterville, Isaac Duncan of Jamestown and Jake Leverton of Pilot Grove.
The Pilot Grove boys had four selections on the all-conference team while Prairie Home and Otterville each had three selections, Bunceton and Jamestown two selections and Higbee with one.
