  • Accurate captures first in Pilot Grove Tournament

  • The Accurate boys third-fourth grade basketball team captured first in the 'Nothing But Net' Tournament in Pilot Grove held on Feb. 16-17 by beating New Franklin 23-18.
    While playing eight-minute quarters, Accurate opened tournament play by finishing 24 better than Pilot Grove by a score of 38-14. Meanwhile, in Game 2, Accurate defeated Boonville by a score of 35-12.
    In that game, Nathaniel Krebs tossed in 15 points, which included a three-pointer. Luke Kollmeyer added 12 while Gabe Greis chipped in four and Tyree Walters and Axton Nease each with two.
    In the championship game against New Franklin, Accurate led 14-9 at the half and 17-13 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, Accurate outscored New Franklin 6-5.
    Gabe Greis led the scoring attack in the game for Accurate with eight points. Axton Nease chipped in seven points, which included a three-pointer, while Nathaniel Krebs added four and Carter Stumpf and Tyree Walters each with two.
    In the Centralia Friends of the Park Tournament on February 9-10, the Accurate boys third-fourth grade basketball team finished third overall.
    In the opening game against Hallsville, Accurate won by a score of 30-23.
    In that game, Accurate led Hallsville 6-2 at the half and 16-12 after three quarters of play.
    Nathaniel Krebs had the high game for Accurate with 12 points while Bailey Quint added 10, Gabe Greis four and Cody Garner and Lane West each with two.
    Meanwhile, in the second game against Centralia, Accurate fell by a score of 35-33.
    With the score tied at 28-all at the end of regulation and 33-33 after the first overtime, Centralia came back to beat Accurate in sudden overtime by two.
    Bailey Quinlan paced all scorers in the game for Accurate with 17 points, which included one three-pointer, while Luke Kollmeyer added six, Nathaniel Krebs with four and Cody Garner, Andrew Wiser and Axton Nease each with two.
    In the third game against VanFar, Accurate won by a score of 44-10.
    Accurate led 22-0 at the half and 36-2 after three quarters against VanFar.
    Nathaniel Krebs had a big game for Accurate with 18 points while Bailey Quint chipped in eight, Cody Garner and Andrew Wiser each with six and Lane West, Gabe Greis and Luke Kollmeyer with two points each.
    In the final game against Hallsville, Accurate prevailed by a score of 25-18.
    In a rematch against Hallsville, Accurate finished the first quarter tied at 6-all but then was outscored 8-4 in the second quarter to trail at half by a score of 14-10. However, in the third quarter, Accurate rallied back to take the lead at 18-16 and then allowed Hallsville only two points in the final period to win by seven.
    Nathaniel Krebs was the leading scorer in the game for Accurate with nine points while Lane West added eight, Charlie Bronakowski four and Gabe Greis and Cody Garner each with two.
