The New Franklin boys basketball team had its season come to an end last night in the opening round of the Class 2 District 7 Tournament at Sturgeon by losing to the Fayette Falcons by a score of 72-61.
The Bulldogs, who closed out the season at 13-13 overall, trailed Fayette 39-28 at the half and 57-41 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, New Franklin outscored the Falcons 20-15 to cut the lead to 11.
New Franklin coach Jim Schlotzhauer said his team was out-played by a good Fayette team.  “They really scored the ball well against our defense,” Schlotzhauer said.  “They were more aggressive than we were and it showed up in the final score.  They also shot the ball extremely well. I felt like we scored enough to win, we just didn’t get enough stops on our end of the floor.”
Rashad Jackman had the high game for Fayette with 30 points.
For New Franklin, Tyler White led the scoring attack with 28 points while Tanner White added 14, Dalton Welbern 11, Tyler Hull six and Ryley Lyons with two.
