The top-seeded Bunceton Lady Dragons basketball team advanced in the Class 1 District 8 Tournament last night at Northwest of Hughesville without so much as stepping on the floor against eighth seeded Calhoun.
While picking up a forfeit against Calhoun, the Lady Dragons (22-2) will now play the host team in the semifinals on Wednesday starting at 4:30 p.m.
As for the Pilot Grove Lady Tigers, the No. 3 seed, they defeated sixth-seeded Kingsville 63-27.
Meanwhile, in the Class 2 District 7 Tournament at Sturgeon, the New Franklin Lady Bulldogs cruised past Slater 50-29.
The Glasgow girls also prevailed in the Class 1 District 9 Tournament at Jamestown by turning back Calvary Lutheran 56-7.  Of course the Prairie Home girls had their season come to an end by losing to Community 42-38.
As for the Pilot Grove girls, they led Kingsville 36-28 at the half and 61-29 after three.
Kerigan Wessing had 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Lady Tigers, who improved to 10-15 on the season.
Melissa Schlotzhauer added 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals while McKenzi Schuster chipped in nine points, McKalie Lorenz also with nine points, five rebounds and three assists, Rachel Lorenz with six points, Katelyn Renfro with four points and three rebounds, Rileigh Grunden with two points and four rebounds, Cynthia Brumback with one point, four rebounds and three steals, Allison Weekly with one point and three rebounds and MaKenzie Twenter with three rebounds.
Kingsville was led by Kelsey Herring with 14 points.
As for the New Franklin girls, they led Slater 24-14 at the half and then outscored the Wildcats 26-15 in the second half.
Aly Hundley had 15 points to lead all scorers for the Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 19-7 on the season.
Aislinn Himmelberg chipped in 13, Jasmyne Boggs and Madi Lyons eight each, Derian Dodson four and Sara Montgomery with two.
Mary Rose Gonzalez had the team high for Slater with 14.
At Jamestown, the No. 2 Glasgow girls jumped out to a 32-5 lead at the half and then outscored Calvary Lutheran 24-2 in the second half.
Abby Thompson had 16 points and seven seven for the Lady Yellowjackets, 20-6 on the season. Nikki Fuemmeler added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Trisha McMillan had nine points and five steals, Anne Reynolds with six points, Peyton Davis with five points and six steals, Carley Brucks with four points and eight rebounds, Erin Reynolds with four points, Blakeley Fuemmeler with two and Lindsey Kopp with four rebounds and three steals.
For Calvary Lutheran, Kim Ousley tossed in five points.
As for the Prairie Home girls, they led Community 21-14 at the break but were outscored 28-17 in the second half.
Makayla Zey had 15 points, 10 rebounds and two assists for the Lady Panthers, who closed out the season at 10-15.
Kendra Stinson added 10 points, four assists and three rebounds while Josie Flood had three points and eight rebounds, Ally Small with three points, four rebounds and three assists, Katlynn Watson with three points and two steals, Brooke Emmerich with two points, two steals and two assists and Krista Small with two points and two rebounds.
